[21:54] Reframing Liberal Arts for Modern Audiences
"A lot of people don't know what liberal arts means. So one of the things we did is we don't talk about it as the liberal arts. We talk about it as a foundation core." Dr. Young explains how Manchester mapped high-demand employer skills to core curriculum classes, allowing them to articulate clear value to prospective students and parents.
[23:35] Closing Question: Three Pieces of Advice for Aspiring Leaders
Dr. Young offers practical wisdom: (1) Function and dress for the job you want, (2) Exercise for mental health as much as physical health, (3) Build in breaks even when you resist them, (4) Have strategic focus and think like the president/CEO regardless of your current role. She shares a story about students in her management class getting promoted mid-semester because they started "acting and thinking differently" by considering leadership's perspective.
